Stay A Little Delusional

“Confidence is 10 percent hard work and 90 percent delusion, just thinking foolishly that you will be able to do what you want to do.”

“Confidence is 10 percent hard work and 90 percent delusion, just thinking foolishly that you will be able to do what you want to do.”

Who's ready for some Wednesday inspiration from Queen Tina?

Confidence can be a tricky thing. Sometimes overflowing, sometimes elusive, it can be the difference between reaching your goals and stalling out. From the quietest of quiet child, I've become more confident over the years and started doing things I never thought I'd do like taking on leadership roles, trying things I never imagined I'd do and finding success, and just full-on taking the leap sometimes - going against my cautious nature entirely just to see what'll happen.

Over time, two phrases have become my philosophies:
1. Fake it 'til you make it
2. What's the worst that can happen?

I think these wise words from Tina are along the same lines and are so true. There are so many people who are successful not because of their talent or hard work, but because they were so delusionally confident in who they are and what they do that they were never afraid to put it out there, while people with equal or greater talent are not as successful or aren't as quickly. There's literally always someone who can do what you do better, but the key is focusing on what you do well, what you do differently, and how it makes you feel.

Everyone needs a reminder sometimes, a little confidence boost. Do something this week to take a step toward more confidence.

XO,

Mary
